The Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation is delighted to present the 2026 Edward Heath Annual Lecture, featuring The Rt Hon The Lord Hague of Richmond. Join us in the spectacular Salisbury Cathedral as Lord Hague explores how Britain’s greatest leaders can inspire solutions to today’s challenges.

Lord Hague rose from a childhood in South Yorkshire to become one of Britain’s most prominent political figures, serving as Leader of the Conservative Party and later as Foreign Secretary. Since leaving frontline politics he has built an influential career across business, writing, diplomacy and international charitable work, culminating in his election in 2024 as Chancellor of the University of Oxford.

Lecture Only Ticket — £30.00
Admission to the lecture at Salisbury Cathedral.
Lecture and Tea Ticket — £37.50
Admission to the lecture plus afternoon tea at Arundells following the lecture.
Premium Ticket — £50.00
Admission to the lecture with seating in the front zone of the Nave at Salisbury Cathedral, plus afternoon tea at Arundells.
Afternoon tea at Arundells offers an opportunity to meet fellow guests, trustees, and many of those involved in keeping the house (Sir Edward Heath’s home from 1985 to 2005) open to the public as part of our national heritage.
Practical Arrangements
The doors will open approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. On arrival at Salisbury Cathedral, please have your ticket ready to present to our welcome team.
The lecture will end at approximately 3.45pm, after which guests holding Lecture and Tea or Premium tickets are invited to Arundells for afternoon tea.
Tea will be served from 3.45pm to 5.45pm, after which time the house and garden will close for a separate event.
Arundells is located just across from the Cathedral on West Walk. Stewards will be on hand to direct you.
Travel and Parking
By Train
Salisbury has direct rail links with London, Southampton, Bath and the West Country.
Salisbury railway station is approximately a 15-minute walk from the Cathedral.
By Bike or On Foot
Cycle parking is available in the Cathedral Close and in the city centre.
Car Parking
The nearest public car parks are:
– Lush House Car Park (SP2 7TD)
– Old George Mall Car Park (SP1 2PH)
Both are approximately five minutes’ walk from the Cathedral Close.
Very limited parking is available within the Cathedral Close at a fixed cost of £10 for the day, including disabled parking spaces. Motorcycle parking costs £1.
Please note: there is no parking available at Arundells.
Park and Ride services operate on the main routes into Salisbury.
Accessibility
There is level access from the Cathedral’s main entrance.
Reserved accessible seating will be available. Please speak to a steward if you require assistance.
All seating is on a flat floor and is not tiered.
The Cathedral’s hearing loop system will be active throughout the event.
Entry, Security and Conditions of Entry
Please do not bring large bags (such as rucksacks, holdalls or suitcases), as these will not be permitted inside the Cathedral. Small handbags and essential items are permitted.
Food and drink may not be brought into the venue.
Photography, filming and audio recording are not permitted during the event.
Anti-social behaviour of any kind, including verbal abuse, harassment or disruption, will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the event.
