Art Workshop: Drawing the garden at Arundells

Spend a creative day in the garden at Arundells with exhibiting artist Tansy Lee Moir.

In this accessible one-day workshop she will share some of the artistic approaches and ecological knowledge she’s gathered in her 15 years of drawing old trees. Find out how to read the stories written in their forms and enjoy learning to capture their shapes in charcoal, graphite and conté crayon as we walk, talk and draw in the grounds.

We’ll also be taking inspiration from shapes and textures of the beautiful Arundells garden in summer. Working both outdoors and inside the marquee, you’ll be encouraged to draw freely in response to your surroundings, working quickly and loosely to make sketches of the structures, sculptures, borders and details.

Expect a focused and energising day spent connecting with the natural world and producing your own unique artworks in response. The day includes an exclusive tour of Tansy’s exhibition.

No experience is necessary - you will be supported and challenged to progress from where you are.
All materials and equipment will be provided.
Tea, coffee and soft drinks provided. Please bring lunch.
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing which you don’t mind getting a little dusty.

Date: Saturday 18 July
Time: 10.30am – 3.30pm
Where: Arundells, 59 The Close, Salisbury
Cost: £72 per person
Includes admittance to the exhibition and entry to the house.
